The tour takes visits Nyungwe, in South West of Rwanda, a huge afro-montane forest. With over 10000sq.km in size, Nyungwe is the undisputed giant in Central Africa. The natural forest is renowned for its large troops of colobus monkeys, chimpanzees, butterflies and a rich variety of orchids. Over 300 bird species have been recorded. While there, stay at the modest Gisakura Guest House, or the Ibis in Butare or other Lodge nearby, depending on availability.
Day 1 Arrival at Kigali Airport.
Arrive at Kanombe (Kigali) airport. Meet and greet before transferring to Kigali City. City tour in Kigali (optional) including a visit to the genocide sites, the art and craft center.
Overnight: Hotel Chez Lando, Bed & Breakfast.
Day 2 Transfer Kigali to Nyungwe Forest National Park.
After Breakfast at the Hotel, Start for Nyungwe Forest National Park. Along the way, make stops at places of interest including local markets, the traditional palace of Rwanda’s Former King in Nyanza. In Butare, visit the Botanical Gardens and a cultural museum. Drive past green fields of tea scattered across the hillsides and the small wooden houses unique to the areas surrounding Nyungwe Forest. [Approximate driving time: 5 hours]

Day 3 Chimpanzee Tracking in Nyungwe Forest.
Go chimpanzee tracking after breakfast at the lodge, the largest in Central Africa. Of all the primates in the Nyungwe Forest, it is the Chimpanzees that are the most popular and the core wildlife attraction in this park.

Day 4 Guided Nature walk or Optional second chimpanzee tracking in the Forest.
After Breakfast at the lodge, either Go second time chimp tracking, OR Guided nature walk in the forest to see a variety of animals and some of the three hundred bird species found here, which include the Rwenzori turaco, black and white casqued hornbill among others. Go on an escorted walk in search of large groups of colobus monkeys – sometimes as many as 400 in a group. Picnic lunch. Return late afternoon.

Day 5 Departure and Fly out.
After Breakfast at the Lodge, return to Kigali. Fly out if you have any onward flight. [Approximate driving time: 4 hours]
